WHO WE ARE

SIRR is held by Haneen Maikey and Lynn Darwich.

Their collaborations began in 2009 across organizing, writing, and political work. Since 2024, this has included the alQaws Palestinian Queer Movement archive.

SIRR was launched in early 2026 to create conditions for new collaborations outside the constraints of mainstream organizing.

Haneen Maikey is a Palestinian organizer, strategist, and archivist. She co-founded alQaws for Sexual and Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society and leads its Palestinian Queer Movement Archive.

Lynn Darwich is a Lebanese writer, researcher, and strategist working across queer feminist, decolonial, and archival practices. She is co-building the global and regional strand of alQaws’ Palestinian Queer Movement Archive.

Writings together include “The Long Refusal: Decolonial Queer Praxis in Times of War and Genocide” (forthcoming, 2026), “The Road from Antipinkwashing Activism to the Decolonization of Palestine” (WSQ, 2014), and “From the Belly of Arab Queer Activism: Challenges and Opportunities” (Bekhsoos, 2011).

SIRR works  in relation with activists, writers, researchers, artists, archivists, and organizers.
